It’s not just an infant feeding issue. It’s an overall health and wellness issue.
It starts with breathing because "if we can’t breathe we can’t live" (quoting Mia here), right?
Compromised airways impact sleep, cognition, and more, and oral tethers (tongue, lip, and cheek ties) directly affect airway function. A "tied" tongue can block the airway, especially during sleep.🛌
Restricted tongue and lip movement affects tongue position, influencing jaw development, mouth breathing, and swallowing patterns. Early intervention yields the best outcomes, but corrective options exist at any age.
